Evi-Elli La Valle, Founder

I moved to Siem Reap in 2015 with my photographer partner Geoff and since then we've had a baby girl called Alba. After growing up in London followed by a stint in Melbourne, both happening, buzzy cities, I was astounded when we moved to Siem Reap by the number of eclectic dining experiences, watering holes and art spaces to visit. Taste Siem Reap was born with the idea of allowing visitors to Siem Reap to experience as much as possible (of the good stuff) in one evening. Why limit yourself to one restaurant or one bar when you can visit a few different places all with a dedicated tuk tuk driver for the evening.

Favourite space: I love the setting of Mie Cafe. It’s a traditional wooden house that’s been beautifully restored with views onto Chef Pola’s herb garden. Located on the outskirts of town it’s a real hidden gem that you would never find by chance.

Favourite place: It's got to be the The Village Cafe. Run by DJ's Strangefruit (aka Stewart Kidd from Glasgow) and Cyril Grouvil (from Aix-en-Provence), The Village Cafe is the ultimate party venue. It's one of those places that's very hard to leave, especially after you've had one of their famous Espresso Martinis!

Favourite taste: Chef Mengly of Pou Restaurant is a magician in the kitchen. His grilled mackerel with turmeric rice wasabi mayonnaise and beet mayonnaise looks stunning and tastes delicious. I find it hard to order anything else every time I go to Pou's.

Sothol Hong, Tuk Tuk Driver

Sothol hails from Battambang, Cambodia's second largest city and a hotspot for contemporary Cambodian art. Sothol has a wealth of tourism experience including stints with Grasshopper Adventures, the best cycling tour company in Siem Reap and Villa Ni Say, a stunning modernist private villa. By day, Sothol manages his own transport and tour company Siem Reap 4 Wheel Driver and he's joined Taste Siem Reap to supplement his income and help to provide for his wife and two small children. His ultimate dream is to own his own house and also have his own hotel or private villa.

Favourite taste: The Cambodian classic Chicken Amok, made by his mum. Luckily Sothol lives with his mum so he can enjoy her tasty version every week.

Silleng Mao, Tuk Tuk Driver

Silleng was born just outside of Siem Reap in a fishing village on the banks of the Tonle Sap, the largest lake in Southeast Asia. He's been a tuk tuk driver for eight years and works hard to look after his wife Selita and baby daughter Selena. His favourite place to visit is the 12th century temple of Banteay Samre and this little visited temple can be combined with the more famous Banteay Srey, otherwise known as the Pink Temple. One day, he would love to have his own business, selling insects to locals.

Favourite taste: Another Amok fan, Silleng's favourite food is also his mother's Amok although he prefers it with fish, which makes sense given that he grew up by the lake.
